London Taxi Company (now LEVC)

1948 – present · UK

The London Taxi Company, rebranded as LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company), embodies a fascinating blend of rich tradition and forward-thinking innovation in the automotive industry. Founded in 1899 by the enterprising Manganese Bronze Holdings, it rose to prominence through the manufacture of the iconic London black cab, a symbol of British culture and a beacon of reliable urban transport. LEVC's origins trace back to the early 20th century with the production of the Austin FX3 in the 1950s, which became a staple on London's bustling streets. This vehicle set the standard for durability and functionality, leading to the more advanced and widely recognized Austin FX4. Today, LEVC is pioneering the transition to green technology with vehicles like the TX Electric taxi. This modern marvel retains the classic design aesthetics of its predecessors while incorporating cutting-edge electric powertrains. The TX Electric not only represents a significant advancement in reducing urban pollution but also showcases LEVC’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. Despite the challenging automotive landscape, LEVC continues to thrive by focusing on electric mobility solutions, ensuring its legacy endures as it reshapes the future of public transportation.
