Lotus Eleven

1956 – 1958

Lotus›Eleven

The Lotus Eleven is a lightweight British racing sports car produced by Lotus from 1956 to 1958. Designed by Colin Chapman, it became one of the most successful small-displacement racing cars of its era, competing in Le Mans, circuit racing, and club events across multiple classes. The car's aerodynamic aluminum body, De Dion rear suspension, and exceptionally low weight made it highly competitive against larger-engined rivals. Notable variants included the Le Mans, Club, and Sports specifications, each tailored to different power outputs and regulations, with engines sourced from Coventry Climax and Ford.
