The R170 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class was the first generation in the compact luxury roadster range manufactured by Mercedes-Benz from 1995 to 2004. It was built on a shortened version of the W202 Mercedes C-Class platform and aimed to embody sportiness, lightness, and compactness - hence the name SLK, which stands for sportlich (sporty), leicht (light), and kurz (compact).
