The Ford Tempo, produced by Ford from 1984 to 1994, succeeded the Ford Fairmont, representing a shift to front-wheel drive and downsizing in the Ford compact car line. Available as a coupe and sedan, with the Mercury Topaz as its counterpart, the Tempo, unlike the Fairmont, had no Lincoln version. The model shared chassis and powertrain components with the Ford Escort and was notable as Ford's first aerodynamically styled sedan.
