The Nissan Cima is a luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by Nissan in the Japanese market. It has been produced across five generations domestically and under the name Infiniti Q45 for three generations internationally. The Cima name comes from the Spanish word for "summit" or "top." The early generations of the Cima featured a hood ornament with an acanthus leaf image, which was also used on the Nissan Laurel. This leaf was commonly used by classical Greeks to make wreaths as crowns. The Cima's main competitor in the Japanese Domestic market was the Toyota Crown. Originally introduced in 1988, the Cima was a more luxurious and larger version of the Cedric and Gloria models, with a V8 engine shared with Nissan's President flagship model, which competed with the Toyota Century.
