The car was designed to offer luxurious transportation options, aiming to compete with other upscale models such as the Prince Skyline and Gloria. Over time, the Cedric's lineup evolved, with the Nissan Skyline focusing more on sporty sedan and coupe offerings, while the Nissan Gloria transitioned into a sportier version of the Cedric, featuring similar styling but with distinct front and back light clusters and radiator grilles. In Japan, this Cedric/Gloria series was affectionately known as CedGlo. The series concluded in October 2004, paving the way for the introduction of the Nissan Fuga
