The Nissan Cedric was a large luxury automobile produced by Nissan from 1960 to 2015 to offer upscale transportation and compete with other luxury car models. Originally developed to rival the Prince Skyline and Gloria, the Cedric eventually became a distinct model within the Nissan lineup. The Nissan Skyline transitioned into a sports sedan/coupe, while the Nissan Gloria received a sporty makeover to align it closer to the Cedric model, albeit maintaining unique styling elements. The Cedric/Gloria series was affectionately referred to as CedGlo in Japan and enjoyed a long production span until October 2004 when it was succeeded by the Nissan Fuga. Despite this, the Cedric name has remained in use for the Y31 series fleet vehicle, commonly seen as taxis in Japan. The Y31 series continues to be produced and competes directly with the Toyota Comfort in the taxi market. Key points: 1.
