The Oldsmobile Silhouette was a minivan manufactured by General Motors across two generations from 1990 to 2004. It was designed to compete with Chrysler's successful minivans during that time. General Motors had previously tried to enter the minivan market with the Chevrolet Astro and GMC Safari, but these rear-wheel-drive, truck-based models could not match Chrysler's dominance.
The Silhouette, along with its sibling models, proved to be more successful than its Astro/Safari predecessors. However, production of the Oldsmobile Silhouette came to an end in 2004 when General Motors discontinued the Oldsmobile brand.
