The Proton Wira, which translates to "hero" in Malay, was a car manufactured by Malaysian automaker Proton from 1993 to 2009. This vehicle was available in both four-door saloon and five-door hatchback models and was built on the platform of the Mitsubishi Lancer. The development of this second Proton model began in the late 1980s, with the Wira officially debuting on May 21, 1993. The Wira's design was based on the CB2A–CB4A-CD9A platform that it shared with the 1991 Mitsubishi Lancer. To differentiate it from the Lancer, the Wira received various modifications, including a unique Proton-designed dashboard
