The Pinzgauer is a range of durable and versatile military utility vehicles that are designed for high mobility in all-terrain environments. Developed in the late 1960s by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Graz, Austria, these 4WD (4×4) and 6WD (6×6) vehicles were named after the Pinzgauer cattle breed native to Austria. The Pinzgauer vehicles were highly sought after by military customers for their reliability and off-road capabilities, leading to continued production at the Guildford facility in Surrey, England, under BAE Systems Land & Armaments. However, a shift in ownership occurred in 2000 when the rights to manufacture the Pinzgauer were sold to Automotive
