The Renault Caravelle, also known as the Renault Floride outside of North America and Britain, was a sports car produced by Renault between 1958 and 1968. Designed by Pietro Frua of Carrozzeria Ghia, the Caravelle featured a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and was based on the platform and engine of the Renault Dauphine.
Renault aimed to compete with the popular Volkswagen Bug/Beetle in North America, where the Dauphine had not gained as much traction.
