Steyr

Steyr, an Austrian brand established in 1915 as a division of the Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft, initially focused on weapon manufacturing before transitioning into the automotive industry. It carved out a niche with the Steyr 12/40, notable for its modern mechanics and distinctive pointed radiator, although its legacy truly began with the luxury-oriented designs and innovative engineering of vehicles like the Steyr 220 during the interwar period. The brand’s journey through the 20th century was marked by significant shifts. Post-World War II, Steyr merged with Austro-Daimler and Puch to become Steyr-Daimler-Puch (SDP), broadening its manufacturing to include not just automobiles but also trucks, buses, and tractors, adopting innovative technologies and creating iconic off-road vehicles like the Haflinger and the Pinzgauer. Today, after the dissolution of Steyr-Daimler-Puch, the legacy of Steyr continues through entities like Steyr Motors, which focuses on high-performance engines for marine and vehicular applications. The company prides itself on combining traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, embodying a heritage of innovation that dates back over 150 years. Steyr Motors, established in 2001 following the breakup of the Steyr-Daimler-Puch group, remains a beacon of Austrian engineering, showcasing a dedication to robust, efficient, and sustainable solutions in propulsion and power generation technologies.
