Stoewer

Stoewer is a marque enveloped in the rich tapestry of automotive history, originally founded in 1896 by brothers Emil and Bernhard Stoewer in Stettin, then part of the German Empire. Renowned for their pioneering spirit, the Stoewer brothers ventured into automobile production in 1899, setting the stage with the "Foreller," their inaugural motorcar which laid the foundation for subsequent innovations. The brand quickly gained a reputation for quality and innovation, notably introducing the first German car with a shaft drive in 1903. Over the decades, Stoewer expanded its range, developing a variety of passenger cars and even venturing into military vehicles during the World Wars, which marked a significant period in its history. However, post-World War II geopolitical shifts and the ensuing reorganization of territories saw Stoewer struggling to regain its pre-war glory. The factory was located in what became part of Poland, leading to nationalization and an eventual cessation of the Stoewer brand in the early 1950s. Today, Stoewer remains a fascinating chapter in automotive history, celebrated by classic car enthusiasts and historians for its innovative contributions to the automotive industry. Despite its cessation, the legacy of Stoewer's engineering excellence continues to resonate in the annals of car history, epitomizing the rise and fall of an automotive pioneer.
