The Subaru Legacy (BW) is a mid-size car, belonging to the seventh generation of the Legacy range, while the station wagon model is known as the Subaru Outback (BT), belonging to the sixth generation of the Legacy-based Outback series. Unveiled at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show on February 7, 2019, the cars went on sale in the third quarter of the same year. Notably, the seventh generation Legacy will not be available in Japan and Australia due to poor sales performance of its predecessor in those markets. Manufacturing of both the Legacy and Outback started in July 2019, with the first units rolling off the production line at the SIA plant in Lafayette, Indiana, on July 29.
