The Chevrolet Cavalier is a line of compact cars that replaced the Chevrolet Monza as the second Chevrolet model to feature front-wheel drive. Introduced in 1982, the Cavalier was part of the GM J platform and became one of the first "world cars" of General Motors. This platform was created for use by various North American GM divisions, as well as international models for Opel, Vauxhall, and Holden. The Cavalier went through three generations in North America from 1982 to 2005.
