Toyota Corona ST180

1987 – 1993

The Corona EXiV, a luxury hardtop model by Toyota Motor Corporation, was launched in 1989 in Japan. This vehicle aimed to mirror the popular Carina ED and was an attempt to offer a more luxurious version of the Corona. The name EXiV stands for "EXtra impressiVe," highlighting the car's focus on elegance and sophistication. Sold exclusively in Japan, the Corona EXiV was available at Toyota Japan dealerships known as Toyopet Store locations. It was positioned alongside the regular Corona model, offering customers a more premium alternative. The design of the Corona EXiV closely resembled the Carina ED, sharing the same Toyota "T" platform as the Celica. In terms of market positioning, the Carina ED was sold at Toyota Store locations, while the Celica was available at Toyota Corolla Store locations. This distribution strategy highlighted the distinct target audiences for each vehicle within Toyota's lineup. Overall, the Corona EXiV represented Toyota's efforts to diversify its product range and cater to varying customer preferences in the Japanese market. By introducing a luxury hardtop version of the Corona, Toyota aimed to appeal to consumers seeking a higher level of sophistication and style in their vehicles.
