The Toyota HiAce is a versatile light commercial vehicle manufactured by Toyota since its debut in October 1967. This popular vehicle has a rich history and is known for its various body configurations, including a minivan/MPV, minibus, panel van, crew van, pickup truck, taxi, and ambulance. The Toyota HiAce was developed by Toyota Auto Body, a subcontracting company of Toyota, in the late 1960s. It featured a one-box design, similar to European vans of the time, which was innovative for the Japanese market at that period, as noted by former Toyota senior employee Akira Kawahara. Initially launched as a cab-over pickup, delivery van, and commuter vehicle, the HiAce quickly gained popularity.
