The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia was a series of sporty models marketed by Volkswagen from 1955 to 1975, encompassing a coupe series from 1955 to 1975 and a convertible series from 1957 to 1975. These models included the Type 14 (1955–1975), the Type 34 (1962–1969), and the Type 145 TC (1972–1975; Brazil). The Karmann Ghia cars were known for combining the mechanical components of the popular Beetle or Type 3 models with stylish body designs by Italy's Carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by Karmann in Germany.
