Wanderer W22

1933 – 1938 · GERMANY

The Wanderer W22, a premium six-cylinder sedan manufactured by Auto Union's Wanderer brand in 1933, succeeded the W20 8/40 PS. This elegant vehicle featured an overhead valve engine designed by the renowned Ferdinand Porsche. Two years later, in 1935, the car was rebranded as the Wanderer W240, and then as the Wanderer W40 in 1936. Despite these name changes, the core mechanics, including the engine and key components, remained largely consistent. The wheelbase and other essential chassis specifications also saw little variation over time. Due to the continuity in design and features, the W22, W240, and W40 are often perceived as a single model rather than distinct iterations
