The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car developed entirely in-house by AMG, Mercedes-Benz's performance division, serving as a spiritual successor to the SLS AMG. The first generation, internally designated C190, entered production in 2014 and was offered in a range of variants including the GT S, GT C, GT R, and the track-focused GT R Pro, all built around a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. A second generation arrived for 2023, growing into a larger 2+2 grand tourer format while retaining the biturbo V8 and adding available all-wheel drive. The model is broadly recognized for combining accessible everyday usability with genuine track capability, particularly in higher-output variants like the GT R and its successors.
