The Nissan Pao is a unique, retro-styled three-door hatchback produced by Nissan for a limited run from 1989 to 1991. Originally introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1987, it was exclusively marketed in Japan through Nissan Cherry Stores. Offering a distinctive design, the Pao could be purchased with or without a textile sunroof. When first launched, it was initially sold without Nissan branding and was available for reservation only from January 15 to April 14, 1989. The high demand for the vehicle was evident as a total of 51,657 applications were received within this short window, leading to a complete sell-out in just three months.
