The Volvo 142 is a two-door sedan produced by the Swedish manufacturer Volvo as part of the 140 series, which ran from 1966 to 1974. It shares its platform and mechanicals with the four-door 144 and the estate 145, differing primarily in its body configuration. The 142 is known for its emphasis on passive safety, including a reinforced passenger cell, crumple zones, and standard front disc brakes, features that were notably progressive for a mass-market car of its era. A performance-oriented variant, the 142 E, introduced Bosch fuel injection and produced around 130 horsepower, making it one of the more capable versions in the lineup.
