The Chiron is dead. Bugatti's replacement, the Tourbillon, is now entering production, and it throws out the rulebook the brand wrote for the last decade.

Sixteen Cylinders, No Turbos

At its heart is a new 8.3-litre V16, built with Cosworth and breathing naturally rather than through turbos. On its own it makes 1,000 hp and spins to a frankly absurd 9,000 rpm.

The hybrid system traces back to Rimac, the Croatian firm now steering Bugatti. An 800-volt setup keeps the electric side sharp, and the engine sits low for a planted centre of gravity.

Three electric motors join the party, two on the front axle and one at the rear, fed by a 25 kWh battery. Total output lands at 1,800 hp, with about 37 miles of silent electric running when you want it.

The Numbers Are Silly

Zero to 62 mph takes 2.0 seconds, 124 mph arrives in 5.0, and 186 mph in 10.0. Top speed is locked at 236 mph until you twist the special Speed Key, which unlocks 276 mph.

There are no turbos hiding a small engine here. The V16 is the headline act, and the motors simply fill in the low-end punch that turbos used to provide.

Despite all that hybrid hardware, the Tourbillon weighs 1,995 kg, less than a Chiron. Carbon fibre and 3D-printed parts did the dieting.

A Dashboard Built by Watchmakers

The name is a watch term, and the cabin earns it. The instrument cluster is a tiny mechanical masterwork of over 600 parts, machined by Swiss watch specialists rather than rendered on a screen.

Even the steering wheel is unusual, with a fixed centre hub so the dials stay visible as you turn. The switchgear is milled metal, not plastic.

It is a pointed rejection of the giant-tablet trend. Bugatti wants this interior to still look special in fifty years, not dated in five.

If You Have to Ask

Just 250 will be built, each priced around 4.1 million dollars before options. Deliveries start in 2026.

The Veyron made speed normal and the Chiron refined it. The Tourbillon is Bugatti deciding that a V16 and a hand-built clock are how you say goodbye to petrol.

Bugatti could have gone fully electric and chased lap records. Instead it built a V16 swansong, and that choice tells you exactly who the Tourbillon is for.
