Alfa Romeo 90 162A

1984 – 1987

The Alfa Romeo 90 (Type 162A) is an executive saloon produced from 1984 to 1987, built on the long-running Alfetta platform with its characteristic rear-mounted gearbox and de Dion rear suspension. Styled by Bertone, it was introduced at the 1984 Turin Motor Show and slotted into the Alfa Romeo lineup above the Giulietta and below the Alfa 6, effectively bridging the gap left as both flanking models were wound down. The 90 carried over much of the Alfetta's proven mechanical architecture while presenting a more angular, contemporary body, and was offered with a range of four-cylinder and V6 petrol engines as well as a turbodiesel option. Its production run was relatively short, and it was superseded by the Alfa Romeo 75 taking a firmer hold of the segment before the 164 arrived to redefine the brand's executive offering entirely.
