The Ford Tempo was a car model produced by Ford between 1984 and 1994, succeeding the Ford Fairmont and represented a shift towards downsizing and front-wheel drive in the compact car segment. It was available as a two-door coupe and four-door sedan, with the Mercury Topaz serving as its counterpart from the same division. Although inspired by the Ford Escort in terms of chassis design and powertrain, the Tempo stood out as Ford's first aerodynamically styled sedan, a trend also seen in the 1982 Ford Sierra hatchbacks and the 1983 Ford Thunderbird.
