All-Turbo Powertrains: This generation fully embraced turbocharged engines, dropping the naturally aspirated V6 for a more potent and efficient 2.0-liter turbo (derived from the Civic Type R's engine, albeit detuned for Accord duty) and a 1.5-liter turbo as the base engine. This offered a balance of power and fuel economy across the lineup.
