The VY ClubSport transitioned to GM's 6.0-litre LS2 V8 in R8 specification, producing 297kW — a significant step up from the outgoing LS1. The larger displacement and revised cylinder heads delivered stronger performance across the entire rev range, and the VY R8 became the benchmark HSV ClubSport of its generation.
