1992 – 2002 · Japan

The Isuzu Trooper, known as the Isuzu Bighorn in Japan, is a full-size SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Isuzu from September 1981 to September 2002. Internationally, it was sold as the Trooper and under various other nameplates like Acura SLX, Chevrolet Trooper, and Subaru Bighorn, among others. The Trooper had two generations: the first from 1981 to 1991 and the second (UBS) from 1991 to 2002, with a notable update in 1998. Initially launched as a basic and somewhat underpowered on- and off-road vehicle with a four-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission, and part-time four-wheel drive, the Trooper evolved over time. The first generation saw improvements like optional air conditioning, power windows, and a more potent V6 engine, catering to enhanced comfort and power needs. Key points: 1.
