The Kia K5, previously known as the Kia Optima, is a mid-size car produced by Kia since 2000. Initially marketed under various nameplates globally, the first-generation models were predominantly sold as the Optima, with the Kia Magentis name used in Europe and Canada. In 2002, when sales expanded to these regions, the second-generation cars were branded as Magentis globally, except in selected countries like the United States, Canada, Malaysia, and the Middle East, where the Optima name remained until 2021.
