The MGA, produced by MG from 1955 to 1962, was a significant departure in styling from its predecessor, the MG TF 1500 Midget. Introduced on September 26, 1955, the MGA made its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This sports car marked a new era for MG with its fresh design, which was a result of the streamlined body created in 1951 by Syd Enever, the designer at MG, for George Philips' TD Le Mans car.
During its production run until July 1962, a total of 101,476 MGA units were sold, with the majority being exported globally. Of the total units, 5,869 were sold domestically in the UK
