Nissan Homy E24

1986 – 1997

The Nissan Caravan, a light commercial van created for fleet and cargo use, has been in production by Nissan since 1973. It was also known as the Nissan Homy between 1976 and 1997, and outside Japan, it was marketed as the Nissan Urvan or Nissan King Van, or earlier with Datsun branding. The decision to use a cabover design in all generations was influenced by the Japanese Government's dimension regulations that tax larger vehicles annually, and this approach maximizes interior space while keeping the van within specified exterior dimensions. The Caravan has a history dating back to 1965 when its twin, the Homy, was introduced as a standalone model before both were combined under the Caravan name in 1973. The cabover design is a key feature of the Caravan to ensure compliance with Japanese regulations and to offer optimal interior space for cargo or passengers. Despite its utilitarian purpose, the Caravan also prioritizes practicality and efficiency for businesses requiring a reliable and spacious vehicle. Over the years, different versions and models have been developed, each catering to the needs of various markets and customers. The Caravan's versatility and adaptability make it a popular choice for businesses and organizations seeking a reliable and cost-effective fleet vehicle or cargo van. The Nissan Caravan's long-standing presence in the commercial van market attests to its durability and practicality for a wide range of applications.
