The Nissan Caravan is a light commercial van, initially introduced in 1973 by Nissan for fleet and cargo purposes. This vehicle has a long history, with the Caravan sold between 1976 and 1997 as the Nissan Homy, which was originally launched as an independent model in 1965. Rebranded versions of the Caravan were marketed outside Japan under names such as Nissan Urvan and Nissan King Van, or with earlier Datsun badging. All generations of the Nissan Caravan have adopted a cabover design to comply with Japanese Government regulations on vehicle dimensions, which impose annual taxes on larger vehicles.
