The Renault 5 is a compact hatchback produced by French automaker Renault in two generations from 1972 to 1996. Initially known as the R5, it later became the Super 5 or Supercinq. The car featured a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout with either three or five doors, accommodating up to five passengers. In the United States and Canada, it was sold as Le Car from 1976 to 1983, garnering popularity in the market. In addition to the hatchback version, Renault introduced the four-door sedan variant named the Renault 7, manufactured in Spain by FASA-Renault and exported to various markets.
