The Toyota Celica GT-Four is a high-performance model of the Celica Liftback that was produced from 1986 to 1999 specifically for competition in the World Rally Championship (WRC). The GT-Four featured a turbocharged 3S-GTE engine and full-time all-wheel drive (AWD). The WRC regulations required manufacturers to produce road-going versions of the competition vehicle, leading to the creation of the Celica GT-Four as a "homologation special vehicle." The Celica GT-Four was released in three generations: the ST165 (1986-1989) based on the fourth-generation Celica, the "super round" shape ST185 (1989-1993), and the ST205 (1994-1999). These cars were manufactured at Toyota's Tahara plant in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, while the rally cars were prepared by Toyota Team Europe in Cologne, Germany. In terms of competitive performance, the Celica GT-Four ST165 made its WRC debut in the 1988 Tour de Corse and achieved its first victory in the 1989 Rally Australia.
