The Toyota Tercel was a subcompact car produced by Toyota from 1978 to 1999, spanning five generations and available in five body configurations. Positioned between the Corolla and the Starlet in size, it was manufactured at the Takaoka plant in Toyota City, Japan, and shared its platform with the Cynos and the Starlet. The Tercel was also marketed as the Toyota Corolla II in Japan, where it was sold at Toyota Corolla Stores. It was later replaced by the Toyota Platz in 1999.
