Along with the Plymouth Breeze and Chrysler Cirrus, the Stratus made it to Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list in 1996 and 1997, showcasing its initial popularity and critical acclaim. However, over time, ratings for the Stratus started to decline. In 2001, an updated version of the Stratus was introduced, coinciding with the rebranding of the Cirrus as the Chrysler Sebring.
