The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, known as the 'Evo', is a performance-oriented sedan and rally car derived from the Lancer model produced by Mitsubishi Motors between 1992 and 2016. Featuring ten official versions with model designations in Roman numerals, the Evo models are equipped with two-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engines and all-wheel drive systems across all generations. Originally targeted for the Japanese market, the Evolution series gained popularity through "grey import" channels, leading to its availability in the UK and various European markets from 1998 onwards.
