The Nissan Violet was introduced in Japan in 1973 as a larger counterpart to the Nissan Cherry, exclusively available at Japanese Nissan dealerships under the name Nissan Cherry Store. In 1977, the second generation of the Nissan Violet was launched, which included two parallel models: the Nissan Auster and the Nissan Stanza. All three models shared the A10 series identifier and were produced in Japan at the Hiratsuka and Yokosuka assembly plants. The Nissan Stanza was specifically designed as a bigger alternative to the Nissan Sunny and was sold exclusively at Japanese Nissan dealerships known as Nissan Satio Store. The Auster triplet, on the other hand, was available exclusively at Nissan Prince Store locations, positioned as a larger companion to the Nissan Lang
